Electrical panel upgrades

100A to 200A — ready for EVs, solar, and your insurer.

A modern 200A service is the backbone of an electrified home. We handle the load calc, permits, utility coordination, and the cutover — usually with your power back on the same day.

Why homes need the upgrade.

Four reasons a panel upgrade moves from “someday” to “now.” If any of these is you, it's worth a load calc before you add another circuit.

Old or unsafe panels

Zinsco and Federal Pacific (Stab-Lok) panels are known to fail to trip under fault. If you have one, replacement isn't a maybe — it's a safety issue.

EV charger loads

A Level 2 charger adds 40–60A of continuous draw. Most 100A panels can't absorb that on top of AC, range, and dryer without an upgrade.

Solar & battery readiness

Most solar + battery interconnections need 200A service and a modern busbar rating. Upgrading now avoids re-permitting and rework later.

Insurance requirements

Insurers increasingly non-renew homes with outdated panels or fuse boxes. A code-compliant 200A service keeps your policy — and your resale value.

What's included.

One fixed price covers the whole job — engineering through inspection sign-off. No surprise change orders for things a real electrician plans for up front.

Fixed-price, permitted, inspected.

A licensed CaliVolt electrician walks the job, runs the load calculation, and sends a fixed-price quote in writing. The number on the proposal is the number you pay.

Every panel upgrade is pulled to permit and signed off by the city inspector. Cash-under-the-table panel swaps are how people lose insurance coverage and resale value — we don't do them.
